Have you ever seen something like this? (Refer to above)
A wealth bowl (聚宝盆), also commonly known as a money bowl, wealth pot, or prosperity bowl, is an essential bowl-shaped ornament that holds wealth symbols such as gold ingots, silver bars, and other miniature versions of auspicious items. (In this article, we will interchangeably use the terms wealth bowl, money bowl, wealth pot, or prosperity bowl.) The wealth bowl is commonly used in Feng Shui to create positive energy flow, significantly stimulate financial prosperity, and act as a magnet for wealth. Being able to "hold" wealth, the prosperity bowl is also closely associated with retaining wealth energy and ensuring that financial gains are not squandered. Hence, apart from boosting wealth luck or promoting wealth growth, another important usage of the money bowl is to retain the energy of prosperity.
In this article, we will discuss more about the Feng Shui Money bowl and how one can use it to improve one's financial luck. We will discuss the different types of Feng Shui money bowls, auspicious materials, auspicious locations for placement, and also how to fill your wealth bowl with auspicious objects.
History of Wealth Bowls
A little history on wealth bowls. The ancient practice of having wealth bowls originated in China. These wealth bowls are used primarily to store and hold valuables such as precious metals, precious stones, and jewelry. The wealth bowls are passed down through generations as family heirlooms and possibly as an inheritance. As this Chinese culture became more widespread, the wealth bowl was viewed as a close symbol of wealth within a family and acted more like a modern safe in the ancient context. This miniature wealth environment is thought to contain prosperity energy, and over time, the money bowl became a key practice amongst more families.
Where to place your Feng Shui Wealth Bowl?
After understanding your Feng Shui Money bowl's history, you may wish to ask where the ideal placement for it is. Well, assuming you already are aware of your residence or workplace wealth area, then it will be easy. If not, it will be essential for you to establish the ideal location for your wealth luck.
From Feng Shui's perspective, the wealth bowl can be used in auspicious locations such as your wealth sector. It can also be placed in an area that brings about career growth or business prosperity segment. Placing a wealth bowl in these strategic locations promotes long-term financial success in one's career. For business owners, having a wealth bowl in a strategic location may result in improved cash flow and steady income streams for your business.
Considering the highly personalized nature of Feng Shui consultation, there is no fixed location for your wealth corner. However, it is common to notice that general suggestive areas suggest better wealth luck. As such, we will give some broad suggestions.
Here are some generic tips for placing your wealth bowl:
1) Residential - The diagonal rule will be a widespread and simplistic way to identify a good auspicious location for your wealth bowl. The wealth corner will be located diagonally from the main door entrance. Remember that this is a very simplified method to identify a wealth corner; hence, please exercise discretion. This may not be the same for every individual.
2) Commercial, especially retail space - Having a wealth bowl on your cash register is already a prevalent practice. There is nothing wrong with this strategic placement; it brings about better financial energy. However, the more significant concern would be if the cash register is correctly placed. Ensure that your cash register is not opening outwards towards any door, especially the main one.
3) Office – If you are an office dweller, consider placing a wealth bowl in the South-East or South West of your office desk for the year 2025. Your WFH desk also works. You may refer to this article for more information.
To stimulate positive energy and continuous wealth flow, placing the money bowl in a strategic location free from clutter or inauspicious items is vital. Never place them in areas such as toilets or storerooms, and if possible, stay away from shoe racks or other less inauspicious items. This will result in negative energy and may be detrimental to the occupants' ability to achieve wealth goals.
Types of Feng Shui Wealth Bowl
Material
The market has many different Feng Shui Money Bowls/ Wealth bowls. From metal bowls, ceramic bowls, and wooden bowls to crystal bowls, these money bowls had become splendid decorative items on their own. Ignoring its original intentions for prosperity, I certainly believe that many people use the Feng Shui Money Bowl as a decorative item nowadays!!
Considering that the Feng Shui Money Bowl is associated with financial abundance, you may argue that crystal bowls aren't the best among all? For good reasons, the bowl's material is essential when selecting a Feng Shui Money Bowl. Take a guess?
Yes - it is 5 elements. After all, the concept of 5 elements is regarded as a fundamental of Feng Shui. There will be an inherent element for each wealth corner. To maximise the congregation of positive energy, it will be crucial to use the concept of 5 elements for Feng Shui purposes.

Auspicious wordings that may be inscribed onto the wealth bowl are generally okay and will be up to personal preference.
Some elaborated wealth bowls may also have gold ingots or other wealth symbols forming part of their design. These money symbols are generally aligned with the focus on abundance.
Filling Up Your Wealth Bowl
Gotten your wealth bowl? This is essentially the "fun" part, in my opinion. A very intuitive process, fill your Feng Shui Money Bowl with anything that symbolises wealth. Take references from ancient Chinese culture or symbols of wealth from historical Chinese practices if you prefer a more rustic and old-school Feng Shui Ornament. If not, modern ornaments work just as fine as long as the focus on abundance is observed.

Beyond Wealth Bowl - Feng Shui
A Feng Shui Money bowl may be insufficient if you hope to activate your wealth sector or money corner to increase wealth. One should be aware of the principles of Feng Shui and identify key sectors and areas that are auspicious to you.
Understanding the principles behind Feng Shui is more important than knowing or buying the items themselves. Being familiar with the various aspects of wealth energy in one's residence or office is more important than what is placed in your Feng Shui Wealth bowl. An accurate placement goes a long way compared to having an elaborate Feng Shui item.
Feng Shui items need not be expensive. Avoid getting overly costly items that promise more than it delivers. Instead, consider contacting a Feng Shui Master for a Feng Shui audit. Be it your residence or business premises, it will allow you to improve your overall general well-being in the new year ahead!
